Cosy, rustic and with a great natural wine list, Le Garde Robe should be a must-go on your Paris list. Prop yourself up at the bar or settle yourself down at a table, either way, you won't realise how fast the time is going.
There are two Garde Robe bars in Paris - one in the 1st arrondissement and the other in the 17th. The atmosphere in both are both inviting and convivial (although, personally, if I had to choose, I prefer the one near Les Halles.) The menu is not extensive (think platters of cheeses, meats and country gratins) but then you can be sure that whatever you choose will be good old delicious warming food and it won't break the bank.
Special mention has to be made of the selection of wines on offer. Predominantly natural wines, available by the glass, the bottle and the tasting measure if you're not sure what to have, you will be thoroughly spoilt for choice.
Lunch or dinner, you can be sure the food will be fresh and tasty, the wines quirky and interesting and the service refreshingly friendly. And don't forget to say hello if you see me propping up the bar!
