The eco-friendly pizza joint, Green Pizz is a truly excellent concept.
No table clothes, no candles, this is no-frills dining at its best. Despite its central Paris location and the fact that it is mid-winter, the ingredients could hardly be fresher. Everything is organic - even the drinks. The take-away pizza boxes are made from recycled cardboard, the deliveries are carried out on an electric scooter, roller-blades or a skateboard. They have thoroughly thought it through.
The oval shape of the pizza bases are particuliar to Green Pizz and it has to be said, they are very, very good. One thing is for sure, this is a level above your average pizza, and yet the price is remarkably reasonable. We had a pizza, dessert and a drink and it came to about 17 euros a head.
The vast majority of items on the menu are vegetarian, but because of the gluttonous quality of the pizza, even your most vehement carnivore would be happy eating here.
It also struck me as a good place to go if you are a solo-traveller. There is a very relaxed feel - you are not pressured by the waiter nor intimidated by other customers - and that's very important if you are by yourself in Paris. Most of the other customers I saw were also in their 20s or 30s, so you never know who you might meet either...
