A quirky pizza joint, doing take-aways, deliveries or 'sur place,' the Pink Flamingo have got their own way of doing things and they're not ashamed of it.
First opened six years ago, it's a family-run American small business which has expanded to boast four addresses in Paris (Aligré, Montmartre, le Marais, plus this one on the Canal Saint-Martin) as well as one in Bordeaux and another in Valencia! The original is the Canal Saint-Martin location, where I was yesterday for lunch.
The menu is a far cry from your Margherita or Hawaiian tropical pizza, this plays around with combinations you'd never have thought of - humous as a topping for instance...?! - then gives them names you're not going to forget in a hurry. (If you think I'm exaggerating, let me just tell you that the Pizza du Moment, I imagine because of its pineapple chutney, was called the "Obama"!)
If it's a nice day and you want to sit by the Canal, you can plump for the take away option. However, it was a bit chilly yesterday so we opted to sit in the brightly-coloured, slightly left-field diner, just next door from the counter where you place your order.
Tasty and not expensive, the Pink Flamingo is definitely worth remembering.
