Dans Les Landes - the tapas restaurant and cocktail bar in the 5th which has got everyone talking, and deservedly so. The food is outstanding.

The blackboard of tapas dishes goes on for as long as Princess Diana's wedding dress... and I  can assure you that next time I'm going to be saving space to try one (or more!) of their delicious-sounding desserts - kiwi gazpacho with creamy white chocolate, anybody...?

However, as spectacular as the choice and quality of the food is, the real clincher (for me at least) was their happy hour. Between 5-7.30pm, and you'll get a delicious cocktail and a generous plate of tapas for just 8 euros which is practically unbeatable in Paris.

To start with, we had a Boujito and a Martini Gascon (with a bottle of water because it was such a hot day!) The Boujito in particular was our favourite - not least because of the unusual flavour that the vanilla sugar brought to the drink.

With that, we decided upon the platter of charcuterie and the chichon de canard on toasted bread. Yummy, yummy, yummy! I'd highly recommend the chichon de canard... it just seemed to get better and develop more flavour with every mouthful.

For our next round, we ordered a tortilla and the panis au chorizo.
Personally, we didn't think much of the tortilla (too sweet and salty - both at the same time - for my tastebuds) but the panis au chorizo with rosemary are so more-ish we declared them the foodie equivalent of crack cocaine!

We ordered two more dishes: the croustillants aux polenta and the world's most indulgent croissant. A mini croissant with melted cheese and butter and cream and....mmm... oh and smoked ham -  for 2 euros a piece.

There are also two large raised tables (each seating 2-16 people) which would be great if you have a large group of people. The prices on the tapas blackboard were mainly between 7 and 10 euros, making the happy hour deal even more of a steal!

(A final word (because I haven't seen it in any of the other reviews of this place) is that the 'decoration' (what people have very brazenly written on the walls) in the toilets makes this somewhere I would hesitate to take my mother.... )
